Pearl Bracelets
At Stelios Jewellers, every pearl bracelet is designed and hand-finished in our Mt Hawthorn studio using Australian South Sea pearls and the precious metals best suited to the wearer’s brief. Stelios Palioudakis trained as a goldsmith in Perth before taking over the studio in 2007, and our collection has grown around that lineage. From classic single-strand designs to layered contemporary pieces, you will find a style for every wrist, occasion and budget.
Discover Our Pearl Bracelet Collection
Our range is built primarily around Australian South Sea pearls grown along the Kimberley coast, alongside Tahitian pearls from French Polynesia in deep peacock and aubergine tones. These natural gems are valued for their lustre, surface quality and rarity. Whether you prefer the organic shapes of baroque pearls, the quiet elegance of a single strand, or the layered character of a multi-strand piece, the collection covers both casual everyday wear and formal occasions.
Bracelets are available in 18 carat yellow, white and rose gold, sterling silver, leather cord, neoprene and rosewood, depending on the design. Pearl and diamond bracelets sit at the more substantial end of the range for clients wanting hand-set diamond accents alongside the centre pearl.
Australian South Sea Pearl Bracelets
The bulk of the bracelet collection is built around Australian South Sea pearls grown by the Pinctada maxima oyster along the Western Australian coast north of Broome. Each oyster takes between two and three years to produce a single pearl of marketable size, and yields only one pearl per growing cycle. The Kimberley waters produce thick nacre, deep natural lustre and substantial pearl size between 9mm and 14mm, which is what gives these pearls their value on the world market.
Our South Sea pearl strand bracelets, bangles, and pearl and diamond bangles use loose pearls hand-picked from sorting trays at our WA suppliers. Single-strand bracelets typically use 12 to 18 matched pearls, while statement bangles often hold a single substantial South Sea pearl as the focal point with hand-set diamond accents.
Tahitian, Freshwater And Mixed Material Bracelets
Australian South Sea pearls are not the only pearls in the bracelet collection. Black Tahitian pearls grown by the Pinctada margaritifera produce the dark colours (peacock green, charcoal, slate grey, deep purple) that work particularly well in cuff-style bracelets and Tahitian pearl neoprene bangles for clients drawn to bolder pieces. Freshwater pearls suit lower price-point pieces and add subtle pink or white overtones to mixed-material bracelets.
We also build pearl bracelets that combine pearls with other materials: lava stone bracelets with single South Sea pearls, black rosewood bracelets, evil eye and pearl bracelets on black or brown cord, and rosewood and pearl bracelets that sit informally on the wrist. These pieces have become some of the most reached-for items in the collection, particularly with younger buyers looking for pearl jewellery that suits weekend wear rather than formal occasions.
Bangles, Strands, Cord And Neoprene
Pearl bangles in 18 carat yellow gold, white gold or rose gold give the most formal silhouette, with a single pearl set on the front face of a hinged or solid bangle. Pearl strand bracelets carry multiple pearls strung on silk thread with knots between each pearl to prevent loss if the strand breaks. Cord bracelets use a sliding macrame closure for adjustable fit, and neoprene bangles are a Stelios signature style, popular with both men and women, where the pearl sits flush against a soft black neoprene band.
For collectors, we keep pearl charms that can be added to existing rose gold or yellow gold charm bracelets, and we add or remove charms on demand at the bench.
Pearl Bracelets For Men And Women
The bracelet collection is genuinely mixed across genders. Men’s pearl bracelets typically use leather, rosewood, lava stone or neoprene as the band, with a single South Sea or Tahitian pearl as the focal point. The materials read as understated rather than ornamental, which is what most male clients are looking for. Women’s bracelets cover the full range from delicate strand pieces to substantial gold bangles, with the choice usually driven by what is already on the wrist.
Sizing And Custom Fit
Standard pearl bracelet length sits between 19 and 20 centimetres for women’s wrists and 20 to 22 centimetres for men’s wrists. We size every bracelet to the wearer rather than fitting to a standard length, and we keep a wrist sizer at the bench for in-person fittings. For clients buying as a gift, we recommend taking a photograph of an existing bracelet on the wearer or measuring an old piece flat, and we will adjust the length before delivery.
Custom commissions allow you to specify pearl size, colour, material combination and clasp style. Magnetic clasps suit clients who put bracelets on one-handed, while hidden box clasps with safety chains are the standard for higher-value pieces.
Caring For Your Pearl Bracelet
Pearls sit at 2.5 to 4.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, which is softer than most gemstones and most metals. Wear a pearl bracelet after applying perfume, sunscreen, makeup or hand cream, never before. Wipe it gently with a soft cloth after each wear to remove the residue and skin oils that dull the surface over time.
Avoid moisture, harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners and storing pearl bracelets alongside harder jewellery that could scratch the surface. Store in a soft pouch or a lined jewellery box. We re-string pearl bracelets on demand at our Mt Hawthorn workshop, replace silk thread when it softens with wear, and check clasp condition during our annual jewellery service that we offer to every client of the studio.
A Recent Esperance Commission
A client from Esperance came to us looking for a pearl bracelet to mark her thirtieth wedding anniversary. She wanted to combine a single substantial pearl with a small selection of round brilliant diamonds her husband had bought for her over the years for various milestones, and which had been sitting loose in a small parcel at home.
We sourced a 14mm cream Australian South Sea pearl with a soft champagne overtone, designed an 18 carat yellow gold bangle with the pearl set on the front face in a four-claw cup, and graduated the inherited diamonds along the gallery on each side, with the largest sitting closest to the pearl. The closure was a hidden hinge with a safety chain. Build time was seven weeks once both the pearl and the diamonds had been laid out at the bench. The bracelet was finished a week before the anniversary dinner.
Frequently Asked Questions
A few of the questions we are asked most often about our pearl bracelets.
What Is The Standard Pearl Bracelet Size?
Standard women’s pearl bracelets sit at 19 to 20 centimetres. Men’s bracelets sit at 20 to 22 centimetres. We custom-fit every bracelet at our Mt Hawthorn workshop and can adjust length before delivery if a gift needs sizing.
Are Australian South Sea Pearls Worth The Price?
Yes, in our experience. The combination of size, thick nacre, slow Kimberley growth conditions and natural lustre produces pearls that freshwater and most other South Sea sources cannot match. They are valued by collectors as a result.
Can I Mix Pearl Sizes In One Bracelet?
Absolutely. Graduated pearl bracelets, where the pearls reduce in size from a centre focal pearl to smaller pearls toward the clasp, are one of the most popular custom designs we build. Mixed-colour bracelets combining white South Sea pearls with Tahitian pearls also work beautifully.
Do You Build Pearl Bracelets For Men?
Yes. Men’s pearl bracelets in leather, rosewood, lava stone and neoprene are a steady part of the collection. They suit clients looking for a piece of pearl jewellery without an overly formal silhouette.
How Do I Restring An Old Pearl Bracelet?
Bring it to our workshop. We re-string with new silk thread and knots between each pearl, replace clasps where needed, and clean the pearls during the same service. Restringing is a standard service for any pearl bracelet, regardless of where it was originally bought.
Wrap A Pearl Bracelet On Your Wrist
Pearl bracelets read very differently on the wrist than they do on a product photo. The way a 14mm South Sea pearl sits against the skin, the way a Tahitian pearl bangle catches the light when the hand turns, and the weight of a gold strand on the wrist all reveal themselves in person. We invite you in to try the bracelets on at the bench, with our team helping you find the right size, material and style.
